We found this fabulous website and company while in search of recycled paper journals. We liked the concept so much we wanted to spread the message of following in the footsteps of a Sasquatch and leaving nothing but tracks!
Here’s the Concept:
Sasquatch lives deep in the forest, far from where most humans dare to go. He lives off the land, and except for a footprint now and then, leaves little trace of his existence. Sasquatch lives a green life, using only what he needs.
Sasquatch™ Brand products use less virgin wood products. They are made of mostly recycled paper. This means fewer trees are cut down and less water and fossil fuels are used during processing. This helps reduce air and water pollution and helps protect wildlife from harmful chemicals and habitat changes.
We have to do our part to help the environment and proactively look for ways to reduce our impact.
2o Reasons to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle:
What’s Good…
1. One tree can filter up to 60 pounds of pollutants from the air each year.
2. Each one million of pages of paper not printed saves 85 pulp trees.
3. Recycling one ton of paper can save 17 trees.
4. Glass never wears out – it can be recycled forever.
5. The energy saved from recycling a glass bottle will light a 100-watt bulb for four hours.
6. Recycling a ton of paper saves 7,000 gallons of water, 380 gallons of oil, and enough electricity to run power in an average sized house for 6 months.
7. Five recycled plastic bottles make enough fiberfill to stuff a ski jacket.
8. Making cans from recycled aluminum cuts related air pollution by 95%.
9. If everyone turned off their laptops each night,$2.8 billion would be saved each year.
10. The energy saved from recycling a glass bottle will light a 100-watt bulb for four hours.
What’s Bad…
1. Americans throw away enough aluminum every three months to rebuild our entire commercial air fleet.
2. It takes 390 gallons of oil to produce a ton of paper.
3. Americans comprise about five percent of the world’s population, and annually produce 27 percent of the world’s garbage.
4. It takes a 15-year-old tree to produce 700 grocery bags.
5. We create about 4.5 pounds of trash per day.
6. Every second, a slice of rainforest the size of a football field is mowed down.
7. Americans throw away the equivalent of more than 30 million trees in newsprint each year.
8. The United States consumes 30 percent of the world’s paper.
9. Plastic may take up to 500 years to decompose.
10. In prehistoric times, 60% of the earth’s surface was covered by forests – today that amount has been reduced by 30% and is still shrinking.
And did you know, it takes 390 gallons of oil to produce a ton of paper.
We’ve never thought of a sasquash as a role model before, but he’s got quite the green footprint. For additional tips and fun ways to leave nothing but tracks, visit Find Sasquash.
